A team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) officials on Sunday urged Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML leader Amrit Kumar Bohora to take the immediate initiave to fulfill the vacant post of commissioners soon.
During the meeting, NHRC officials informed the leaders that NHRC has been facing serious problems in investigating cases related to human rights violations and atrocities and in making recommendations to the government for further action, a statement issued by NHRC said.
Besides, NHRC has been facing problems in internal management as well as policy formation process, the statement reads.
They also suggested to Deuba and Bohora to respect the spirit of the "Paris Principle" while appointing Chairman and Commissioners at NHRC.
In reply, both leaders expressed their commitment to give top priority to filling the vacant posts at NHRC.
