After carrying out an extensive investigation in Gaur incident, National Human rights Commission (NHRC) has found out that the Maoists and the activists of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) including the loopholes in security situation led to the carnage of Gaur on March 21 that left 29 dead and scores wounded.
Stating that the killings in Gaur were brutal, NHRC on Thursday said that the victims of the Gaur incident should be provided with appropriate compensation and those injured must be availed free treatment.
The NHRC report has suggested the government to take action against the chief district officer who, according to the report, failed to execute his duty and also urged the government to step up working efficiency to avoid any such incident.
The NHRC also urged the MJF not to take any such action which is against the law of the land and asked to help government to carry out action against the guilty.
Stating that the Maoists provoked the MJF cadres by organizing a mass meeting at the same venue earlier finalized by the MJF, NHRC said that the Maoists also breached the peace agreement signed with the government by brandishing weapons in the public places.
NHRC report stated that there was no evidence of rape but findings showed that women were treated inhumanly and beaten severely.
