Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has said there was no alternative of the consensus among the political parties. Addressing a mass meeting at open-air-theatre (Khula Manch) today in the capital city Kathmandu, Prime Minister Koirala said successful holding of the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections and implementation of federal democratic republic was the victory of all Nepali people.
PM Koirala also said that he never compromised people’s freedom of expression, democracy, human rights and press freedom. “It is the victory of all Nepali people, no single party has rights to claim the victory" the PM said "all Nepali people have won the war in a peaceful way,”
The premier also said that the achievements were gained through the consensus of the politics and it should be continued expressing his commitment to move the country forward maintaining the mutual understanding among the political parties.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, acting president Sushil Koirala, leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, Bimalendra Nidhi, Ram Baran Yadav, Gopal Man Shrestha, Prakash Man Singh, Arjun Narsingh KC and Pradeep Poudel among others also addressed the meeting. The leaders had spent most of the time in criticizing the Maoists for 'not giving up violence'. They also insisted that the Maoists should fulfill 7-point demands raised by their party.
