Following direction form the government, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on Saturday has decreased the price of petrol and diesel.
NOC has also slashed the price of aviation fuel and terminated the dual pricing of diesel. But it has not changed the prices of cooking gas and kerosene.
According to new pricing, the price of petrol per litre has been set at Rs 95 slashing by Rs 5. Likewise, the price of the diesel per litre now costs Rs 70. Earlier, the normal price was Rs 80 per litre while the subsided diesel sold at Rs 70.
Similarly, the price of aviation fuel has been reduced by US$ 100 per kilolitre to US$ 1400.
According to Rajendra Mahato, Minister of Commerce and Supplies, the government is soon introducing ration cards for kerosene and LPG to provide relief to poor families and students.
After ration card system, 10 and five litres of kerosene will be sold at a subsidized price in the urban and rural areas for each family under the system. Similarly, each family and each student will get one cylinder of LPG every month.
Reports said that after this price adjustment of petroleum products, the per litre profit for NOC in petrol and aviation fuel stands at Rs. 12 and Rs. 23 per litre respectively.
