Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Wednesday said that the government would not compromise in the issue of democracy, peace and security of the country.
Reiterating his commitment to guarantee peace and security in the nation, PM Koirala during his address to the senior police personnel at the Police Headquarters, Naxal Wednesday morning, directed police force to step up activities to improve deteriorating security situation in the country so that conducive environment will be created to hold the constituent assembly election.
Stating that though it was difficult to maintain law and order during transitional phase, PM Koirala, however, said the police administration must step up its strength to provide security.
PM Koirala dubbed the security unit of the country as the pillar of the nation and expressed his commitment that the government would do the needful to make it strong.
Meanwhile, PM Koirala has also held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Rukmangat Katawal on Wednesday morning. During the meeting, CoAS Katawal is learnt to have briefed latest security situation in the country.
