Arrival of international tourists starts declining

The arrival of the international tourists continued to grow till March has started to decline, said Nepal Tourism Board. The arrival of the tourists declined by five percent in May this year. In the last five months, the arrivals  the tourists arrival has maintained eight percent growth compared to the same period of the previous year.

In May this year, the Indian market which is considered a major market, recorded a decline of 14 percent with two and one percent followed by UK and USA. According to the statistics of Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, tourists arrival from Japan recorded growth by 45 percent.

The SAARC segment shows a 10 percent  decline compared to last month of which the Indian market is the only one to have tourists coming fewer than before. According to the statistics, the arrival of the tourists from  Bangladesh increased by 28 percent, Pakistan by 40 percent and Sri Lanka increased by 90 percent.  Out of the remaining Asian segment registered Japanese arrivals escalated by 45 percent  along with S. Korea (43 percent) and Malaysia with one percent. The other markets to decline were China 37 percent, Singapore 14, Thailand 46 percent and ROC Taiwan 48 percent, said NTB.
