NTB and TAAN sign an agreement to discourage illegal operation in trekking

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN) have signed an agreement on Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) with a view to maintain the database of trekkers and discourage illegal operation in trekking business.

The agreement will go into implement from tomorrow. As per the agreement, all trekkers should have the valid TIMS certificate distributed free of charge by the TIMS counters of NTB and TAAN. Nepal.

Trekking agencies which are not affiliated with TAAN, however, have to get TIMS certificates from either TAAN Secretariat or NTB.

The database expected to be useful to rescue the trekkers during the emergencies help to ascertain the number of trekkers in a particular trekking route
