United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Nepal has urged all the political parties to respect political rights of those all participating in Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.

Expressing its concern over Ramechhap incident in which five UML activists were thrashed, OHCHR said that such incidents impede the creation of congenial electoral atmosphere.  Likewise, it has also equally expressed concern over the incidents of abduction reported in Dhankuta and Chitwan.

"This environment cannot be created through security measures alone and will require the cooperation of all political actors during the election campaign" said the release.

Stating that the  OHCHR has noted various political actors were instructing their cadres to take control of polling booths on election day, it has called on political actors to pledge to respect all political and civil rights.
