Nepal Representative of Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Richard Bennett on Thursday handed over 58,000 copies of a pocketbook on human rights to Nepal Police.
OHCHR-Nepal provided technical assistance in developing and producing the pocketbooks following a request from the Nepal Police, said press issue released today.
According to the release, the first version of the Standing Order was published in 1996 in collaboration with OHCHR-Geneva.
The Human Rights Standing Order for Nepal Police (Nepal Prahari Manab Adhikar Sthai Adesh) consists of international human rights standards for law enforcement officials on issues including policing in a democracy, conducting investigations in accordance with human rights, crowd control, use of force and firearms, combating discrimination, community relations, the rights of refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) among others.
