Parliamentary proceeding has been postponed till May 14 as parties, on Wednesday, could not reach agreement on the demands of legislators. Secretariat of the Interim Legislature Parliament pasted a notice of House postponement. The proceeding was postponed as Maoist legislators stick with the demands and disagreed to sit in the meeting on Wednesday.
The sitting of the parliament was postponed for two weeks following the obstruction of the Maoist and Madheshi legislators. Speaker Subash Nemwang said they were trying to reach agreement on the resumption of the sitting.
“We are trying to solve the differences, the house will sit after we reach agreement” Nemwang said.
Talking to the media persons after the postponement of the sitting of the parliament, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula said all the political parties were aware to this matter and the meeting of eight parties would address the demands of the legislators.
The legislators representing CPN-M have demanded that Home Minister should apologize for police raid in YCL’s office. Similarly they have also demanded the government’s opinion regarding the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls and cantonment management.
Similarly, Madheshi legislators have demanded nullification of the electoral constituencies, determination of such constituencies on the basis of census, and formation of high level commission to assess the damage in Madesh movement.
