Interim parliament on Sunday has passed Foreign Employment Bill 2007, which requires depositing property worth Rs 3 million in cash or in cash form and bank guarantee to get operating license to supply workers for foreign employments.
The bill includes the provision requiring seekers of such licenses to deposit Rs 3 million in cash, or Rs 700,000 cash and remaining Rs 2.3m worth of bank guarantee, which the bank must provide when demanded by the Department of Labor and Employment Promotion (DoLEP).
Parliament committees finalize NRN bills
Similarly, the parliamentary International Affairs Committee on Sunday finalized a bill with a provision of providing 10-year resident visa to Non Resident Nepalis (NRNs).
According to the amended bill, any Nepali has to reside for two years in a foreign country to become an NRN.
So far, Nepalis residing in foreign county for six months was considered a NRN.
The bill has divided NRNs into two categories: Nepalis residing in foreign country and foreign nationals of Nepali origin. It has provision to keep record of all NRNs.
Once the bill is endorsed, NRNs can also invest in foreign currency. It also envisages a tax waiver in a bid to integrate the NRN in national development.
