South Asian People's Assembly has kicked off in Kathmandu from Friday with the slogan of 'People's Alliance for Democracy, Justice and Peace.'
Addressing an inauguration ceremony, speaker of the interim legislature parliament Subhas Nemwang said unity of South Asian people could help in the utility of the vast resources the SAARC countries deserve.
Opining that an inability of using vast resources of the SAARC countries, Nemwang said it was the reason that most of the south Asian countries have been enlisted as under developed countries. "SAARC countries are volatile as we are not able to win the confidence of the people" he said.
Speaker Nemwang said the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls could ensure peaceful Nepal.
Representatives from the various walks of life of South Asian countries have gathered in the three days long assembly.
People's SAARC is an organization that aims to strengthening democracy, human rights and justice, promoting communal harmony and combating religious and ethnic violence, addressing environmentally sustainable development, and river water issues, and developing a common charter of civil rights in order to promote gender equality among others.
