Petroleum dealers withdraw strike

Petroleum dealers have withdrawn there strike which was to be begun from today. The dealers have withdrawn strike after signing a 16-point agreement with a committee formed by the government to address the demands of the dealers of petroleum products.

Representatives of Petroleum Dealers Association and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Shyam Sundar Gupta had held several rounds of negotiations on the demands forwarded by the dealers.

The Nepal Oil Corporation has agreed to make arrangements for smooth supply of petroleum products within a month. To prevent adulteration, the NOC will, within four months, make the price of diesel and kerosene equal, according to the agreement.

The government has also agreed to form a petroleum board, which will have full authority to regulate the petroleum trade. With this agreement, all the petrol pumps have been reopened from today.
