Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Wednesday said the government was committed towards resolving problems being faced by the industrial sector of the country.
Saying that the industrial sectors are backbones of the nation economy, PM Prachanda during a meeting with representatives from business community, said that government was going to prohibit all kinds of strikes in industrial sector declaring the sector as banda free zone.
Representatives of from Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepalese Chambers of Commerce had met the PM ‘Prachanda’ and submitted a memorandum urging the government to address various issues related with industrial sector.
During the meeting with the PM ‘Prachanda’ the business community asked the government for creating favorable investment climate, addressing labour problems, ending power cut problems and arranging alternative way for an unrestricted power supply so that the industries could run.
The community has been urging the government to declare an ‘industrial emergency’ in the country and pledge waiver of the demand charge (fixed minimum charge) for electricity supplied to industries.
Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Industry Minister Astalaxmi Shakya and Water Resources Minister Bishnu Poudel were also present in the meeting.
