Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala has directed the heads of security agencies of the Eastern Development Region to exercise every possible measure to maintain security in the region to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls in a conducive atmosphere.
PM Koirala also instructed the security chiefs to make necessary arrangements for escorting vehicles to resume vehicular movement in the highways.
PM also informed that discussions with senior leaders of the Madhesi Liberation Front are underway to bring them to the peace process thereby putting off the indefinite strike.
PM Koirala went to Biratnagar to attend the one-year funeral rites of his sister-in-law Nona Koirala. He is due to return to the capital later today after a two-day Biratnagar visit.
