Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has claimed that eight political parties have informally reached agreement to hold Constituent Assembly (CA) polls within November 26 and date would be officially announced through eight party meeting to be held soon.
Talking to the media persons in his hometown Biratnagar on Monday morning, PM Koirala said that he would hold CA polls at any cost as mandated by people. Koirala also ruled out the breaking down of eight party unity.
PM Koirala also said that he would strongly maintain law and order situation in the country warning that any party whether it be Congress, YCL or other involved in unruly and illegal activities would not be tolerated.
Referring to the activities done by the Maoist and its several wings, PM said he was feeling difficulties working with the Maoist in the government.
PM Koirala also flayed the recent controversial remarks made by Minister for Trade, Commerce and Supply Rajendra Mahato and regretted such irresponsible remarks from a person in a responsible position.
Mahato had said that the people of hill community living in the Terai would have to flee if they were not ready to be ruled by the Madhesis.
PM Koirala further said that there was no need to declare republic from an interim legislature parliament stating that the task of bringing the country into republican set up has been finished 80 percent and it would be came to an end when the king’s rights would be curbed.
PM Koirala who is in his hometown for three days will return capital on Tuesday.
Coinciding to PM’s absence in the capital, CPN-Maoist had registered a motion for the declaration of republic before parliament.
Ram Chandra Poudel, general secretary of Nepali Congress on Monday had reacted that this move of the Maoist was immature stating that the CPN-M was taking the matter of republic in light manner. He added that such a proposal coming from a 'revolutionary party' was a surprising move ‘which would only strengthen the monarchists’.
