PM Koirala announces his resignation

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Thursday afternoon has announced is resignation at the meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

Addressing the CA meeting, PM Koirala urged all political parties to keep unity intact and to continue politics of understanding.

PM Koirala, 83, who also holds the presidency of the ruling Nepali Congress, was selected the PM after the restoration of the House of Representatives (HoR) on 24 April 2006 following the People’s Movement-II.

PM Koirala's resignation will be officially approved by the president, who is yet to be elected.
