Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Monday has assured business entrepreneurs to scrap syndicate system.
In a meeting with representatives of Federation of Nepalese Cambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at his official residence in Baluwatar, PM 'Prachanda' said that he will direct the Home Ministry to scrap syndicate system prevailing in the transport sector.
During the meeting, the representatives had also submitted a memorandum which said that FNCCI will take to streets if the syndicate system is not abolished at the earliest.
The Supreme Court (SC) on 25 August, 2008 had issued an interim order on behalf of the transport operators to discontinue the prevailing syndicate system. However, the business community claims that the SC order has not been implemented as the system still exists.
The business entrepreneurs on the initiative of the FNCCI had put off their hunger strike after the PM assured them that the syndicate system will be removed within two months.
Similary, in a meeting with a team of industrialists from Morang district, PM ‘Prachanda’ has assured to take up the issue with Indian government and seek permission to use Indian land for transportation of industrial products.
The industrialists’ team led by led by Dinesh Golcha had urged to make arrangements for reaching industrial products to the market.
