Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has returned to Kathmandu Thursday afternoon after wrapping up a five-day political visit to India.
Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport on his return, PM 'Prachanda' said that his India visit was successful in giving a new height to bilateral relations between the two countries.
PM 'Prachanda' said that the both countries have reached a new understanding on the issues which were on debate. He said that the joint foreign-minister level committee will start its work to review and upgrade the bilateral treaties including 1950 treaty of Peace and Friendship.
On Wedneday, Nepal and India had publicised d a 22 -point joint statement announcing to review, and update the bilateral treaties including 1950 treaty on peace and friendship between the two countries.
In the joint statement, India had agreed to release immediate flood relief of Rs 3.2 billion to the Koshi flood victims. India had also agreed to provide a credit of up to Rs 2.4b for fuel supply and to build the 200 MW Naumure Hydro-electric Project on the Rapti River, among others.
During his visit to India, PM 'Prachanda' had met his counterpart Dr Man Mohan Singh, Indian President Pratibha Patil, vice-President Hamid Ansari, ruling Congress (I) President Soniya Gandhi, former Indian prime ministers, opposition party leaders, high-level officials and dignitaries.
