The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) - Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and the Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also former prime minister, have nominated their name at the Constituent Assembly (CA) Secretariat for the post of prime minister.

A meeting of the three major parties – CPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) on Thursday by signing a seven point pact has agreed to support Prachanda, as a joint candidate for the prime minister.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Prachanda said that the three understanding has opened up doors for easy drafting of new constitution with two-third members in the Constituent Assembly (CA) on one side.

According to reports, the seven-point understanding which has reached between the three major parties said other parties will also be included in the government; draft common minimum programme of the coalition government; and take decision on security agencies with consensus among the ruling partners.

Earlier, the CA party meeting of the Nepali Congress had picked Sher Bahadur Deuba as the party's candidate for the prime minister.

NC has already announced its decision to sit in the opposition after the big four parties failed to reach an agreement on formation of a consensus government.

The election for the post of prime minister will take place at 1:00 pm tomorrow at the CA building, where 594 CA members will cast their vote to choose new prime minister of federal democratic republic of Nepal.
