Chairman of CPN-Maoist Prachanda on Tuesday said the door has been closed for his party to lead the new government. The objective reality and the latest political development rendered the possibility of leading the government to an end, said Chairman Prachanda.

Organizing a press conference in the capital city Kathmandu, Chairman Prachanda said his party decided not to lead new government and would play its role as opponent. "Latest political polarization has left us in the position of opponent and we have accepted it contentedly, " Chairman Prachanda said .

Chairman Prachanda further accused that unnatural and revengeful alliance of some political parties could lead the country towards deadly disaster.  “The NC, CPN-UML and MJF alliance will push the nation into grave internal conflict, which will give chance to foreigners to take advantage from it" he added.

Prachanda also said that the foreign reactionary forces were acting behind the current political twist. Chairman Prachanda also mentioned that the India had suggested CPN-M to elect Girija Prasad Koirala as the president of Nepal.

Following its candidate Ramraja Prasad Singh’s loss in the presidential race, the CPN-Maoist had decided not to lead new government.

A meeting of the central secretariat of CPN-M Tuesday morning had formally decided that since the NC, CPN-UML and MJF alliance is in majority, they cannot form the government.
