Minister for Education and Sports Pradip Nepal has accused Maoists of trying to save monarchy in the country.

Addressing a press meet organized by Press Chautari Rupandehi in Butwal today, Nepal said Maoists were willing to keep king at a time when even Rastriya Prajatantra Party had decided to opt for republic.

Minister Nepal also stated that Prachanda's recent statement regarding consensus with royalists proved that Maoists were favoring monarchy. Nepal also disclosed that Maoists had demanded more than half of the seats in interim parliament. "This is beyond the line of possibility", said Nepal.

Stating that Nepalese armies were professional, Minister Nepal said that the Nepalese armies would offer a 'salute' even if Prachanda becomes prime minister.

Minister Nepal accused Nepali Congress of lacking culture of consensus. Meanwhile, he said there was no alternative then to hold the constituent assembly polls on time.
