Industrial entrepreneurs put demands to the govt., Speaker commits to hear

The representatives from business and industrial communities have informed the government that they would not pay the revenue, interest of bank loan and communication and electricity bill during the period of banda and strike until the government created conducive situation to run the business.

Meeting with Subhas Nembang, speaker of Interim legislature- Parliament, Home Minister Krisna Prasad Sitaula, Minister for Tourism Culture and Civil Aviation Pradip Gyawali in presence of legislators of eight political parties at the secretariat of parliament, they also demanded the compensation of the business and industries closure.
 
A delegation comprising officials, ex presidents and members of executive committee of Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and representatives from Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Hotel Association, Bankers Association and Birgunj, Biratnagar and Janakpur Chamber of Commerce also submitted the memorandum.

 Ministers had expressed their commitment to make attempt to solve the problem of the business and industrial sectors. Speaker Nembang informed the delegation that special committee regarding labor and industry would discuss the issues. He also said that he has proposed formation of Economic- Social Transformation Special Committee to solve the existing problems of business and industrial sectors.

In the meeting, members of the delegation had criticized the government for being unable to maintain security to the industrial sector which has significant contribution in building national economy.

In their seven points demand, industrialists have demanded that business and industrial sectors should be declared  strike prohibited zone, the programs like strike, banda and chakkajam should be prohibited along highways and sub highways, educational sector should be declared peace zone and concession should be provided in telephone and electricity charge during banda period.

Similarly, they have said that industry management should not be pressured to pay salary and allowance to the workers during banda period. Other demands include withdrawal of the interest of bank loan during the period of April movement as per the previous decision, rescheduling the installment period and compensation of the damages made during strikes.
