An armed group of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-Goit) that abducted District Education Officer of Saptari Nibha Raj Joshi Saturday early morning has warned of taking any kind of physical action against Joshi if its demands including ransom of Rs. 5 million were not fulfilled within 24 hours.
JTMM (Goit) has demanded to call off an election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) slated for 20 June. Similarly, it also demanded that all Pahade (hilly) origin government employees be called back from Terai districts.
A JTMM leader Shyam, on behalf of his organization, took the responsibility for the abduction informing media persons and human rights activists stationed at Saptari.
A report quoted Shyam as saying that the abduction was a warning against holding the election to constituent assembly without guaranteeing the inclusion of the Madhesi people.
According to a police, the rebels entered Joshi's room through the window as gate was locked and abducted Joshi.
Joshi's whereabouts is yet to be known. However, police said the search was underway.
Meanwhile issuing separate statements, District Education Office, Nepal Teachers' Union, Nepal Teachers' Association, Nepal Teachers' Forum and Nepal Teachers' Academy urged the kidnappers to immediately and unconditionally release Joshi.
