Journalists have launched rallies program nationwide to protest the killing of Bara-based journalist Birendra Sah by Maoist cadres in Bara district.
Hundreds of journalists took participation in a rally organized by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) in the capital city.
Addressing a gathering after the rally in the Maitigharmandala, media professionals and leaders of different media groups have demanded strong action against the murderers including compensation to Sah’s bereaved family.
The speakers of the gathering also demanded the Maoist's apology towards Sah's killing from their cadres.
Meanwhile , all independent FM radios have observed at least two minutes of 'mourning' at 7 am in the morning protesting against the killing of Birendra Sah.
With the initiation of three broadcasting associations, Broadcasting Association of Nepal (BAN), Community based Radio Broadcasting Association and Kathmandu Upatyakya FM Broadcasting Association, the 'mourn tone' was broadcasted from FM stations.
Issuing a press statement today, general secretary of BAN Bishnu Hari Dhakal has said that a committed journalist who was working for justice has been killed.
All of the broadcasting association have strongly demanded for the action against the culprit and compensation to the bereaved family of Shah.
Sah, a Bara-based correspondent for Nepal FM as well as Avenues television, was killed by the Maoist cadres the same day he was abducted on October 5.
