SC orders govt. to recognize third sex

Supreme Court (SC) today issued mandamus in the name of government to recognize the third sex. The SC has asked the government to enact law to establish rights of the people having third sex.

Hearing a petition filed by Blue Diamond Society for equal treatment, the SC has issued this order.

The SC has also asked the government to form a probe panel for the study of the demands put forward by the petitioner that homosexuals should have rights to marriage. A joint bench comprising justice Balram KC and Pawan Kumar Ojha had issue the order.
