At least seven industry workers have been injured in Parsa district when an unidentified gang opened fire at them in Parsa on Tuesday.
The gang had opened fire at Chandal Chowk of Alau village, five km west of Birgunj, in Parsa district in the morning at those workers.
Among the injured are five Indian nationals and three are Nepali citizens. Ramashish Patel, Jagadish Mahato, Bipin Kumar Mahato, Umesh Patel and Amarjit Patel of Hajma Tole across the border; Binod Gupta of Alau in Parsa and Shoaib Hakim of Parwanipur of Bara were injured in the shootout.
A report quoted Gautam Mishra, inspector at the Shripur ward police office as saying that a gang of four persons who came on two motorcycles opened random firing at Chandal Chowk. He quoted an eyewitness as saying that the pillion riders on both the motorcycles were each armed with two guns.
After shoot out, assailants had fled to India.
The workers sustaining the injuries are undergoing treatment at Narayani Regional Hospital Birgunj.
Police has recovered some pamphlets left by the gang at the scene threatening local businessmen of life.
