Protesting the attack and threats over traders, business community shut down all the industries and business enterprises in capital city Kathmandu today. Nepal Chamber of Commerce called a one-day traders’ strike against the attack over Indian businesswoman Kiran Gupta and her husband Roshan Gupta. Kiran Gupta was stabbed to death in Wotu, New Road on Friday night .
Roshan Gupta, a resident of Sitamarhi district in India’s Bihar state, and his wife Kiran ran the Pashupati Shoe Makers shoe shop in Kathmandu, according to the police.
Demanding the better security from the state, Nepal Chamber of Commerce called one day business shut down.
Addressing the rally in New Road, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandi Raj Dhakal said the business community would be compelled to go into phase-wise protest if the government remained apathetic towards growing attacks over the industrialists and businesspersons. President Dhakal also demanded the penalty to the outfits carrying out attacks against businesspersons.
