Speaker of the Interim Legislature Parliament, Subash Chandra Nemwang has started fresh political meetings with leaders of various political parties in an attempt to ease the proceedings of the parliament that was disrupted earlier.
Nemwang held separate meetings with the chief whips of CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist) Monday and sought their cooperatation in ending the deadlock in the parliament.
Talking to journalists after the meeting with the Speaker, Dinanath Sharma, chief whip of CPN-M, said political consensus is necessary among parties to resume the proceedings of the House.
Sharma further said government should speak on Constituent Assembly (CA) elections before the House starts its session.
The House was adjourned for two weeks, until May 9, after the Maoist and the Madhesi lawmakers disrupted successive sittings putting forth separate demands.
The Maoist lawmakers have been demanding termination of the recommendations of the Electoral Constituency Delimitation Commission (ECDC) as well as the government clarification regarding the delay in announcing the election date while the Madhesi MPs want a census before fixing the electoral constituencies.
