Speaker Subash Nembang on Sunday said the CPN-Maoist should immediately stop disrupting parliamentary proceedings and let the House pass important proposals, including declaration of Nepal a republic.
"If the proposal (of declaring Nepal a republic) is officially registered in the House, all issues will be sorted out, but for that the parties should stop disrupting the House proceedings," Nembang said at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon his arrival from Indonesia.
Nembang also said he would hold consultations with the parliamentary parties and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to sort out the existing problems, which had earlier disrupted the parliament for several days before Nembang left for Indonesia.
He also said the parties should reach a consensus to move ahead. "We appraised the international community on Nepal's peace and democratic process on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Unit (IPU)," said Nembang.
Held in Bali, Indonesia, the IPU meeting also discussed global warming, political and socio-economic issues and the role of parliament of respective countries.
