Finance secy warns to take action against tax evaders

Rameshwor Prasad Khanal, secretary at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Tuesday has warned to take  strong action against those citizens who have been evading tax.

Khanal said that 40 percent of the total tax payer has been hiding their "black money".

Speaking at a programme in the capital, secretary Khanal said that the government has given an opportunity of the Voluntary Disclosure of Income Source (VDIS) to disclose their properties within the deadline of February 11.  "If they continue concealing the properties, government will investigate against people, who are not submitting tax and will take strong action against them," said Khanal.

Khanal added that the government is ready to discuss the reservations made by industrialists, businessmen and entrepreneurs on the VDIS scheme of the government.
