In the period of last nine months, 115 people were killed by the different groups in Terai region of Nepal, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said today.
Concerning The deteriorated human rights situation in the country, the NHRC also said the government and the Maoist were not abiding by the comprehensive peace accord concerning.
Chief of the NHRC Kedar Nath Upadhyaya commented that the rate of human rights violation showed that the government and the Maoists were not serious about the implementation of the peace accord.
Making public a report, the NHRC said it was planning to hold discussions with the members of political parties and call them to abide by the accord since they were not following the peace accord.
The report shows that the Terai region was hit hard during the last nine months. According to the report, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum killed 30 persons, the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) killed 11 persons, the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Goit) killed nine, and the Maoists killed nine persons.
According to the report, the causes of the death of 19 persons were not identified. Armed Kobra group killed an individual, Tarai Bagi killed one and security personnel killed 10 individuals. Similarly, 15 people killed in the bomb explosion planted by different unidentified groups while 14 persons were killed during the Kapilvastu violence.
The report also expressed deep concern over the continued attack and threat against media persons stating that administration seemed reluctant to take action against the guilty even after the identification of the suspects.
