Govt. declares martyrs to 32 individuals
In a bid to implement the agreement reached with United Democratic Madhesi Front, the government has declared 32 persons killed in Terai movement as martyrs. Those declared as martyrs include 30 agitators and 2 police personnel.
The government has also announced a compensation of Rs. 1 million to each martyr’s family.
Issuing a press release, Home Ministry said 24 people killed during the Terai/Madhes movement last year and 6 killed this year have been declared martyrs. Two policemen—one from the Nepal Police and the other from the Armed Police Force—killed during the agitation have also been declared martyrs.
Martyrs declared agitators include Raj Kumar Kamat (Morang), Talu Hemram alias Taluhasda (Morang), Nirmal Rajbanshi (Morang), Sadananda Yadav (Morang), Dindayal Mandal (Morang), Hari Mehta (Sunsari), Shyam Sundar Mehta (Sunsari), Biscut Mia (Sunsari), Ram Ekwal Roy (Sarlahi), Ashish Ali Mikrani (Sarlahi), Ramnarayan Sah (Sarlahi), Samyaj Kumar Roy Yadav (Sarlahi), Dinesh Roy Yadav (Sarlahi), Mahabir Sah (Parsa), Dipendra Sah (Parsa), Birbal Mukhiya (Parsa), Ramesh Kumar Mahato (Siraha), Bechan Yadav (Siraha), Mohammed Anish (Siraha), Pramod Sadaya (Siraha), Samjhana Rai (Siraha), Rajesh Thakur (Siraha), Bijay Kumar Sahani (Siraha), Sekh Abdul Ansani alias Asaraf (Bara), Majid Ahamad alias Majir Mia (Bara), Rajeshkumar Thakur (Mahottari), Shiv Shankar Yadav (Dhanusha), Jagadish Pashwan (Nawalparasi), Gulten Das (Saptari) and Guljar Khalai (Banke).
Similarly police personal Naresh Jung Karki and Sukra Lala Majhi have also been declared martyrs.
