Banda leaves life more complicated

Despite sitting in a dialogue with the government, Samyukta Loktantrik Madheshi Morcha (SLMM) has continued banda (strike) in the 8th consecutive day today. The banda has left life in Terai more complicated.

Local administration has imposed curfew for indefinite period in Lahan municipality in Siraha from 7.00 am today to avoid possible backlash. An individual was killed yesterday in Siraha when police opened fire yesterday.

Similarly, local administration has also clamped curfew in Bara district. Curfew has been imposed in Birgunj-Pathlaiya road section from 7.00 am this morning to pass the oil tankers.

Local administration has issued permission to open fire if demonstrators defy curfew.

Due to banda and unrest east west highway has been deserted for a week.
