As CPN-Maoist, former rebels, emerges as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, it has started consultations with donor communities.
Maoist chairman Prachanda held meeting with the representatives of donor agencies and United Nations in the capital today. After the meeting, Maoist Chairman Prachanda said that the representatives of the donor communities assured him that a new process of international assistance would begin.
He said that the meeting dealt with other very important issues. The Maoist floated its view on the ongoing peace process, formulation of a new constitution, alliance with other political parties, army integration and physical development in the meeting.
The meeting was held at UN office in Pulchowk. The meeting was attended by UNMIN chief Ian Martin, US envoy Nancy J Powell, Robert Piper, resident coordinator of UNDP among others.
With regards to extension of UNMIN's tenure in Nepal, Prachanda said the decision to that effect would be taken after the first meeting of Constituent Assembly (CA) in consultation with other parties.
He also reiterated his stand that monarchy would be removed at the first meeting of CA. Senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai was also present in the meeting.
