The U.S. Mission to Nepal has provided more than 2 hundred thousands US dollars in technical equipments to Election commission through USAID's Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI).
RSS has reported that the assistance is expected to support a successful voter registration campaign and timely Constituent Assembly elections.
According to the report, the donated equipment includes high-capacity servers and new data processing software to support the planned database of more than 15 million voters in a great speed.
Likewise, printers, UPS and toner cartridges and other essential materials will be provided to each district level election office under this assistance.
Henerietta H. Fore, Under Secretary of State for Management, made the announcement at the Election Commission on Saturday presenting a deed of equipment donation to Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokharel.
"The United States is convinced that a legitimate and inclusive election process is critical to moving the peace process forward in Nepal" the senior diplomat said.
Wishing peaceful, prospers and democratic future of Nepal, she expressed her pleasure of getting opportunity to assist the Commission.
Stating that the Election Commission is committed to hold free, fair Constituent Assembly elections, Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokhrel said the works are speeding in this regard.
