The visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Barry R Lowenkron has met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence at Baluwatar Friday morning.
According to PM’s foreign affairs advisor Dr Suresh Chalise, the duo discussed the latest political developments in the country and other bilateral issues.
After the meeting Lowenkoron said reporters that he expressed his doubt in holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election by November as the Maoists have unchanged their behaviour.
The US official also raised his concerns with the recent agitation of long march to Bhutan launched by Bhutanese refugees, delay in nominating Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and activities of the Young Communist League (YCL) along with their involvement of stoning ambassador Moriarty’s car in Damak last week.
According to Chalise, the PM expressed his sadness over the stoning case and expressed his commitment to maintain peace and security in the country.
Earlier to this, the visiting US official had met Speaker of Legislature-Parliament Suvas Chandra Nembang and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sahana Pradhan Thursday.
