VDC secretaries to resume work

The agitating Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries on Thursday have agreed to resume works in their respective VDCs within a couple of days after the government assured to meet their demands.

Sources said that the Ministry of Local Development (MoLD) has assured to fulfill VDC secretaries' demands and they are likely to resume their works within few days.

All the VDC secretaries across the nation have been halting their works following the killing of Ramhari Pokhrel, VDC secretary of Govindapur, Siraha district.

The Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh (JTMM-J) faction on July 18 had killed the VDC secretary.

The VDC secretaries have been demanding guarantee of their security at the work place by the state, formation of local bodies and promotion for working even in the absence of any elected people's representatives in their respective VDCs.
