Following Supreme Court’s (SC) order and daily protest against him, Vice-president Parmananda Jha on Tuesday has clarified that his taking oath of office and secrecy in Hindi was not to hurt sentiments of any Nepali citizen.

According to a statement by the Vice president Jha, he had no intention to hurt the nation, nationalism, sovereign integrity and will never have it in the future.

In the statement Vice-president Jha said that he chose Hindi language bearing in mind that it is understandable to all residents of Terai districts, who speak different languages.

Vice-president Jha has expressed his commitment to respect all languages spoken in Nepal equally. He also stated that he has signed the oath paper written in Nepali language, which is used in government official work

Vice-president Jha said he was sad that the countrymen were hurt regarding the language of the oath as well as the ongoing disenchantment and protest regarding it.

Stating that such protests only benefit the communal elements, who want to hurt national unity by spoiling social goodwill and tolerance, Vice-president Jha expressed regret if anyone was hurt from his expression and assured that he will focus on strengthening the welfare, integrity, prosperity and national unity of Nepal and the Nepali citizens. He has also asked all to move ahead with mutual unity and goodwill for the prosperity of Nepal and the Nepalese.
