The government has received Rs 3.035 billion from the World Bank's (WB) Emergency Peace Support Program to support conflict-hit people and to provide allowances to Maoist combatants confined in UN-monitored cantonments.

According to a press release issued Peace and Reconstruction Ministry on Tuesday, the grant under the Emergency Peace Support Program will be used to pay compensation of Rs 100,000 each to the families of the war deceased  and to support Rs 3,000 per month to Maoists combatants.

As Maoist combatants' have not received allowances for last 13 months as agreed in the Comprehensive Peace Accord,  approximately 19,600 verified Maoists combatants now  will receive around Rs. 39,000 each.

As per the government decision and set criteria for relief amount, widows of people killed during the insurgency, displaced families, and injured and disabled persons will receive the relief amount.

The amount received from the WB will also be used for financial support to conflict hit people who need help for their livelihood.
