Constituent Assembly (CA) members representing from far western region have urged not to start the construction of West Seti Hydropower Project until the map of state reconstruction is sketched.
Speaking at a program on Sunday in capital, the CA members said the construction of the hydropower should be halted as the local people are unaware about the merits and demerits of the project and CA has not discussed about it.
The government has awarded contract to an Australian company for the construction of West Seti. The locals have stressed that the project needs the participation of local community.
West Seti is expected to generate 750 MW electricity and Nepal is supposed to get 75 percent of it free of cost once it is completed.
CA member Bharat Badhuwal said 50 percent of the profit should go to the local community. Other CA members Khem Bam, Narendra Kuar and Renu Chand said West Seti should be in the center level discussions.
