Locals of the Humla district have allowed resumption of Yati Airlines flights in Simikot. Following an discussions among the stakeholders, they have allowed to resume Yati's flights in the district.
A meeting comprising the representatives of Simikot locals, Yati Airlines management, district administration office, Humla chapter of chamber of commerce and industries, political parties and civil society agreed to resume Yati's flight. As per the agreement, Yati will take off regularly from Nepalgunj and make systematic to the cargo flights.
Accusing Yati Airlines of carrying only tourists and cargo and neglecting local people's rights to consume air facility, people of Humla had prohibited landing of Yati Airlines in Huma.
Following the protest launched by local people, flight of Yati airlines had halted for more than a week. Humla people had prohibited landing of Yati's aircraft in Simikot airport.
Due to the obstruction, people returning homes to celebrate Dashin festival were stranded. Even the tourists who had booked air ticket for Humla to visit Manasarobar, a famous tourist spot had taken off to Surkhet.
The locals had also demonstrated at Simikot airport demanding easy and nominal air ticket facility.
Nepalgunj- based Yati Airlines said it faced millions of loss due to flights halt.
Some weeks back also, the people of Humla had protested against Yati Airlines demanding nominal air service. The passengers had also padlocked Nepalgunj office of Yati Airlines.
