PTC India Ltd., a government of India initiated public-private partnership has offered to supply 33 megawatts.
The proposed volume of power means as much as 700,000 units of additional electricity in the country's grid, even if the country uses only 30 megawatts after technical loss.
NEA has forecasted that the country is headed toward facing a deficit of as much as 1,500,000 units of electricity in February, requiring power cuts of over 40 hours per week per household.
NEA officials say that thirty-three megawatts of additional supply is a huge relief for Nepal that can help manage with significantly lesser duration of power cuts in February when the worst power cuts are expected.
Nepal is facing a capacity deficit of 80 megawatts, despite already importing 85 megawatts power from India at the moment.
