WB holds assessment interaction

A workshop organized by World Bank (WB) and International Finance Corporation (IFC), in collaboration with the ministry of industry and commerce and supplies on Friday discussed about the Investment Climate Mini Diagnostic project.The workshop which is a part the project followed a review of the draft Special Economic Zone (SEZ) law done by FIAS and IFC’s South Asia Enterprise Development Facility at the request of the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) project offices of Nepal. The workshop presented a venue to discuss findings and recommendation on how to bring Nepal’s economic zones regime in line with the international best practice. Chief Secretary, member of the National Planning Commission and the secretaries from key ministries as well as representatives from the private sector had participated at the workshop. A seven – member mission constituted by the World Bank is assessing invest climate in Nepal. The mission has been holding interaction with various government agencies, member of the private sector, development partners, business intermediaries and civil society since February 5 in order to identify the barriers to private investment in Nepal. |
