President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Monday inspected the flood-hit areas caused by the breakdown of Saptakoshi river embankments.

President Dr. Yadav had reached the district with President’s office secretary Ram Hari Aryal, Prime Minister’s office secretary Dipendra Bikram Thapa and spokesperson of Home Ministry Mod Raj Dotel.

According to reports, President Dr Yadav inspected Paschim Kusaha, Sripur, Haripur and Laukahi by air. The President also observed the temporary camps of flood victims in Inaruwa.

Reports quoted President Dr. Yadav as saying that the government is planning to provide separate settlements to the displaced people.

During his visit to the district, heads of the regional security bodies informed him about the problems created by the river.

Saptakoshi River had breached the eastern side of the embankment last Monday and gushed into villages leaving at least six VDCs inundated.

After the disaster, over 50, 000 people have been displaced. Most of the affected people are seeking shelter in Inaruwa and also in over two dozen camps in Saptari district.
