At least 18 killed in landslides

At least 18 individuals have been killed in separate landslides in Baglung and Bajura districts Thursday night.
Police said thirteen persons were killed and two have been missing when a landslide swept nine houses at Dhawa of Gwalichaour VDC-1 in western Baglung. The detail of the mishap is yet to come.
The site of the mishap is some 60 kilometers away from Bagulang Bazzar, the district headquarters. Though Nepal Army, Nepal Police personnel and locals rescued more than a dozen of injured villagers, the continuous downpour has been affecting the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, five people including a two-month-old baby were killed in a landslide at Bademalathi of Brahutola-1, Bajura district, early Friday morning.
The landslide hit the village at 3 this morning. Tenants of the buried house Pardeshi Ukhada and his wife Jogmati, Binod Karki of Morang and Hira Thapa of Kailash Mandau VDC of Bajura are among the killed. Police said the death toll could rise in the incident. A rescue team has been deployed in the site, police said.
